TWF State Meeting

September 20th at Cumberland University

Anyone with an interest in wrestling in the state is welcome to attend. I should be able to post a tentative agenda in the coming weeks for those interested.

We would love to have as many people as possible attend the meeting. It is only through more involvement that we will be able to continue to improve wrestling across the state. Whether you are coach, official, parent, or just someone who wants to get involved, come to the meeting and let's see how you can help better wrestling across TN.

Date: Saturday September 20th
Time: Start at 9:00 A.M. going until close of business
Location: Labry Hall Room 122
Cumberland University
One Cumberland Square
Lebanon, TN 37087

If you plan on attending please e-mail me at garrett.house@gmail.com so I can get a reasonable count of who may be attending and plan refreshments, etc accordingly.

Also, if you have a topic or idea that you would like to offer for consideration on the agenda please feel free to e-mail me that as well.

Thanks and looking forward to seeing you there,
Garrett House

Fargo Registration Deadline Approaching

Cadet and Junior National Championships

All wrestlers who are currently planning to attend the junior or cadet nationals in Fargo need to contact TWF State Chairman Jose Delgado with the following information:

Name
Age Division
Weight Class
Styles Wrestling

If the above information is not sent to Coach Delgado then the athletes will not be registered for Nationals and will not be able to wrestle.

Coach Delgado may be contacted at coachdelgado@gmail.com.

Once again athletes must be registered by the state in order to compete. If you are planning / wish to attend Fargo then you need to contact Coach Delgado ASAP. Several wrestlers have been registered in mass by their coach(es). If you believe this is the case for you, then it would be wise to check things with your coach and ensure he has recently heard from / contacted Coach Delgado about attendance at Fargo.

The results and notes from the Best of the Best Duals held on June 7th at Ravenwood High School have been posted. Full results are available here or from the schedule page.

After a 3-way tie Team Memphis was declared the winner after another competitive and exciting event.

Some of the wrestlers names were incomplete on the score sheets. If anyone can fill in the missing blanks please let us know. We would like to properly recognize all of the wrestlers who took part in this event.

We apologize for the delay on getting the results posted. Look to see results and a write-up on the Schoolboy and Cadet National Duals Teams within the next few days. Congratulations to all of the wrestlers who took part on those two teams. They competed hard and represented TN well. They have earned the right to call themselves members of the Tennessee National Team.

Updated State Registration and Greco Brackets

Updated to Reflect Status as of 5/8/2008

Registration current to the time of this post can be found in Excel format here.

The Greco-Roman Tournament brackets have been updated with several changes. Take a look at the newest version here. These should be final barring any scratches at tournament time.

We had a total of 67 wrestlers sign-up for the Greco-Roman tournament. Unfortunately, due to weight class spreads there were 9 wrestlers who we were unable to match-up. A list of the wrestlers who registered for the Greco-Roman tournament but could not be placed in a bracket can be found here. You may still attend the Greco tournament and potentially set-up exhibtion matches.

We currently have 113 wrestlers registered for freestyle. Walk-ups will be taken on Saturday.

Also all weights are scratch +1 pound for those weighing-in in a singlet. For example this means that anyone attempting to make Cadet 105 will need to weigh 106 lbs with their singlet on.

First State Rankings of the Year

Division I & II Posted

Check out the rankings tab at the top of the page to see what our resident wrestling pundit MatMan has to say about the outlook for Tennessee wrestling in Division I. We have a new ranker taking the load over for DII so that should allow both rankers more time to concentrate on their respective divisions. Look for the DII rankings to be posted tomorrow night (likely late). Don't forget to sign-up for the forums and discuss this rough draft of how the season might shake out. Remember that these rankings are done with very little information and things like weight class are still typically a best guess. If you have something you would like to add to the rankings be sure to send in your pre-season outlook or current season results to Matman for DI or Garrett House for DII.

Enjoy! See you all on the mats soon!

P.S. Look for the Wrestler & Coach of the Month for October to be posted in the coming week...
